Weddings at Maydencroft Manor
A place shaped by nature, history, and quiet brilliance
Surrounded by ancient meadows, woodland edges, and a working countryside landscape, Maydencroft Manor offers a wedding setting that feels grounded, atmospheric, and completely unforced.
Tucked away in the Hertfordshire countryside, yet only 30 minutes from London, it is designed for couples who want something more considered than a traditional venue, and more supported than a dry hire space.
This is a managed countryside wedding venue, not a blank canvas.
We host a limited number of weddings each year, typically up to 10. This allows us to protect the land, maintain exceptional standards, and give every celebration our full attention.
How weddings at Maydencroft Manor are designed
Weddings here are flexible in style, but carefully managed behind the scenes.
You have the freedom to shape your day, supported by a structured approach that ensures everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
Three ways to celebrate
We offer three distinct wedding settings, each designed for different scales and styles of celebration.
Typical wedding investment
Most couples invest between £15,000 and £35,000+ for their wedding at Maydencroft Manor.
This includes:
- Venue hire
- Catering and drinks
- Supplier costs (florals, photography, music, styling)
- Optional structures such as marquees or furniture
- Per-guest venue service fee covering on-the-day coordination and drinks logistics
Every wedding is different, but this reflects a full countryside celebration at our venue.
How we support your wedding
A limited number of weddings each year
We host a small number of weddings each season, allowing us to focus fully on each celebration and maintain the quality of both the venue and the experience.
You are part of a carefully considered calendar, not a production line of events.
”The gardens, the moat, the barn… they were all ours for the weekend. Every guest remarked on how personal and relaxed it felt.”

Larger and multi-day celebrations
Maydencroft Manor is well suited to larger and multi-day wedding celebrations, particularly those that extend across several spaces or require additional structures.
The layout of the barn, courtyard, and surrounding grounds allows for marquee extensions, expanded dining areas, and flexible event flow over a number of days.
We regularly support weddings with specific cultural requirements and work alongside experienced planners and specialist suppliers where needed.
Our approach remains the same: a carefully managed setting, with the flexibility to shape something that feels entirely your own.
Ceremonies & nearby options
While not licensed for legal ceremonies, Maydencroft Manor offers a range of beautiful settings for celebrant-led weddings.
Ceremonies can take place in Bunyan's Barn, the manor gardens, meadows, or at nearby St Ippolyts Church, just one mile away.
Food, drink & suppliers
We work with a carefully selected group of trusted caterers and suppliers who know the venue well and help deliver a seamless experience.
You’re free to shape your day in your own way, supported by a structure that ensures everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
A setting shaped by nature
Maydencroft Manor is part of the wider Maydencroft Group, an environmental organisation focused on conservation, regenerative land management, and traditional craftsmanship.
Your wedding directly supports:
- Conservation grazing and habitat restoration
- Biodiversity-led land management
- Restoration of historic buildings and landscapes
Every celebration contributes to the long-term care of this place.
Location
Located in Gosmore, just one mile from Hitchin and five minutes from the station, Maydencroft Manor is easily accessible from London, Cambridge, and the wider Home Counties.
Despite its convenience, it feels private, rural, and removed from everyday life.
