Weddings
A place shaped by nature and history.
Surrounded by ancient meadows, Maydencroft Manor offers a wedding setting rooted in history and full of charm. Tucked away in the rolling Hertfordshire countryside yet only an hour from London, this peaceful hideaway is ideal for couples looking to celebrate in a space that feels authentic, warm, and grounded in nature.
Whether you're planning a relaxed country celebration, an elegant garden ceremony, or something completely bespoke, our flexible approach allows you to shape the day exactly as you imagine it.
Three ways to celebrate
We offer three distinct wedding hire options to suit the scale, style and feeling of your day.
Historic & heartfelt
Maydencroft Manor dates back to the Domesday Book.
”The gardens, the moat, the barn… they were all ours for the weekend. Every guest remarked on how personal and relaxed it felt.”
2025 couple
Maydencroft Manor dates back to the Domesday Book and has welcomed royalty, including Queen Isabella in 1358 and Henry VIII in 1524. During that visit, the King famously fell into a ditch while hawking and was saved by footman Edmund Moody. That story became local legend, and it’s part of the colourful history of this house and land.
Despite its royal past, weddings at Maydencroft Manor are relaxed, thoughtful, and entirely personal. Every celebration is shaped by your ideas, not by tradition.
Local roots & natural beauty
Located in Gosmore, just one mile from Hitchin and five minutes from the station, we’re perfectly placed for guests travelling from London, Cambridge, or further afield.
Ceremonies can take place:
- In the Bunyan's Barn, the manor gardens or meadows with a celebrant-led blessing
- At St Ippolyts Church, a Grade I listed building dating back to 1087, just a mile away
- At St Ibbs Park with an outdoor celebrant-led blessing
We can also arrange vintage tractor transport between church and reception for a rustic, memorable moment.
Food, drink & styling
We’re proudly flexible. You’re free to bring your own caterers, mixologists, or street food vans — there’s no corkage fee, and no alcohol licence required.
Whether it’s a long-table feast beneath the trees, a champagne tower in the courtyard, or cocktails and firepits under the stars, we’ll help you bring it together with minimal fuss and maximum impact.
A wedding with purpose
Maydencroft Manor is part of the wider Maydencroft Group, an environmental business working across nature restoration, traditional craftsmanship, and regenerative farming. That means:
- Your wedding supports conservation grazing and habitat creation
- All land is actively managed for biodiversity
- Historic features are preserved with care by skilled craftspeople
It’s a celebration that treads lightly—and gives something back to the land it’s held on.
